Are you a visionary in the world of technical design, with a passion for crafting unforgettable experiences in events, TV, and film? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to lead a dynamic team as the Head of Technical Design at a London based fabrication workshop, specializing in creating awe-inspiring sets, props, and installations for events, television, and film. Their dedicated team of craftsmen and creatives work collaboratively to bring ideas to life, pushing the boundaries of imagination. While 3D rendering skills are beneficial, the primary focus is technical construction planning and innovative problem solving.

 

The Role

As the Head of Technical Design, you will be the driving force behind our workshop's technical vision. Your role will involve leading a team of talented designers, engineers, and fabricators, overseeing the creation of innovative and high-quality solutions that captivate audiences. From immersive event environments to cutting-edge TV and film sets, your creativity will know no bounds.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and inspire a small team of technical designers, providing guidance and fostering a collaborative, creative environment.
  • Conceptualize and develop technical design strategies for projects across events, TV, and film.
  • Ensure design practicality for CNC fabrication
  • Collaborate with clients, production teams, and stakeholders to understand project requirements and deliver exceptional results.
  • Oversee the production process, ensuring projects are executed with precision and within budget.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and materials to continually elevate our technical design capabilities.
  • Be the problem solver and encourage the design team to take a similar approach

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a leadership role within technical design and fabrication.
  • Minimum of 6 years experience in events, TV, or film.
  • Exceptional creative and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in one or more of the following: Rhino, Vray, Sketchup, AutoCAD, InDesign, Photoshop
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
