Architectural Assistant in the Essex area? 

I am working with a dynamic architectural practice specialising in residential projects, ranging from small-scale developments to master planning. Based in Chelmsford, they pride themselves in creating thoughtful, and innovative that meet the needs of their clients and communities. Their Planning Team is at the forefront of shaping these designs, working collaboratively to navigate complex planning processes and deliver exceptional results.

They are seeking a highly motivated and creative Part 1 or 2 Architectural Assistant to join their Planning Team. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills and contribute to a variety of residential projects at different stages of the planning process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of planning applications, including drawings, design and access statements, and other supporting documents.
  • Conduct site and contextual analysis to inform design proposals.
  • Produce high-quality conceptual designs and visuals to support planning submissions.
  • Collaborate with team members, consultants, and clients to develop schemes that align with planning policies and client aspirations.
  • Research and interpret local and national planning policies, building regulations, and design standards.
  • Attend site visits, client meetings, and planning consultations as required.
  • Support the team in coordinating with planning authorities and managing project timelines.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • RIBA Part 1 or 2 qualification or equivalent.
  • Strong design and presentation skills, with proficiency in software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Familiarity with UK planning processes and building regulations, particularly in residential developments.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with an eye for detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and independently when required.
  • Enthusiastic, proactive, and eager to learn and grow within the practice.

Salary will be based on experience and ability but is expected to be between £25,000 - £30,000.
