Looking to join a well established local authority practice? They have strong links with the council and are now requiring a passionate and hard-working principle Architectural Designer - to join their 30 strong team in Derby.
Team leader:
- Lead an Architectural team, supporting the business, team and colleagues to achieve maximum potential
- Manage the team effectively with adherence to commercial performance and resource management via productivity and time methods
- Support the Associates and Directors, linking effectively and proactively with other teams within the company
- Work proactively and flexibly to support delivery across the service with commercial and solution focus
- Take ownership for own personal development
- Support the professional development of team members
Business delivery:
- Be the authority for Architectural Designer matters (Conceptual/Technical/Compliance)
- Assist in the development and delivery of new processes for the department
- Ensure projects are completed on budget and to schedule
- Prepare scheme designs with costings, programmes for completion of projects and specification of works
- Prepare and present feasibility reports and high quality design proposals to the client
- Work around constraining factors such as planning legislation, building regulations, environmental impact and project budget
- Prepare applications for planning and building control
- Prepare working drawings, details and specifications for pricing and construction issue
- Choose materials to be used and the requirements for the project, based on site and environmental criteria
- React and resolve issues which arise during the predesign/design/construction/post-construction stages of a project
- Contract Administration
- Lead and co-ordinate the project design team at all stages of projects
Business strategy:
- Assist with leading the Architectural team strategy for the business
- Support with the development of a team business plan linked to the practices strategic business plan
- Cultivate new business clients and retain existing clients
It’s essential you have:
- Degree in Architecture or equivalent
- Have five+ years professional experience as an Architect
- Strong design and drawing skills
- A keen interest in buildings and the built environment
- Excellent communication skills, written and oral, with the ability to liaise effectively with a range of other professionals
- An understanding of the relationship between people, buildings and the wider environment
- Chartership (you are an associate member of CIAT or RIBA) or have chartered membership with CIAT or RIBA
- Microsoft Office proficiency
- CAD proficiency
Communication:
- Discuss the objectives, requirements and budgets of projects
- Liaise with construction professionals on the feasibility of potential projects
- Create a positive and professional first impression of Concertus
- Communicate with all staff efficiently
- Work closely with teams of other professionals such as Quantity Surveyors, Project Managers, Engineers and Architectural Assistants both internally and externally
- Travel regularly to construction sites, proposed locations and client meetings
- Lead on introducing more efficient and joined up projects and processes
BIM roles and responsibilities:
- Ensuring asset Information requirements and/or MIDP requirements set out in the Employers Information Requirements are delivered on a BIM project
- Enable reliable information exchange through a common data environment
- Overall lead for configuration management and project outputs
- Populate the information exchange format for the information model
- Production of design outputs related to a discipline specific, package-based or time-based task
- Undertake clash detection process and liaise with design team
- Produce BIM compliant working drawings and specifications
- Direct the production of task information in compliance with standards and methods
- Assure delivery of information exchanges
- Coordinated delivery of all design information
- Enable integration and co-ordination of information within information model
- Manage information development and information approvals
- Confirm Design Deliverables
- Direct the production of task information in compliance with standards and methods
- Direct the production of task information using agreed systems
- Propose resolutions to co-ordination clashes
- Accept / reject information exchanges within the common data environment
Salary on offer will range up to £45,000 PA, and they are currently operating a 3 day office / 2 day home split across the company.
