Job Description

A growing and very close-knit practice based in the heart of the Jewellery Quarter (B'ham) are now in search for a Residential Layout Designer with demonstratable residential layout experience/ samples of work. 

 

They are currently 8 members strong and have a plan to expand the business by taking on this permanent Layout Designer that will take them up to 11 strong as they have just taken on 2 Part II Assistants

 

The practice delivers projects across a range of sectors which apart from Residential includes Student living, Care Homes and Commercial. As it stands, their housing sector is extremely busy and the Directors are now needing to make these hires to make sure they are in an ideal position to take on this work and deliver on all their new projects they have been instructed on. Please see the below briefs for each position and the associated salaries for each below:-

 

Senior Layout Designer with experience of residential projects.

 

Attributes:

 

The successful applicant will have

  • A good knowledge of residential layout design reinforced with examples of work.
  • Proven knowledge of current design standards that should be applied to residential projects
  • Proven experience of working directly with clients as the main point of contact and liaising with Local Authorities
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to build rapport and develop relationships.
  • Experience of producing comprehensive Design and Access statements/ Vision statements/ Design Codes
  • A proven track record of delivering successful planning approvals.
  • A strong work ethic and ambition to progress within the company
  • A Good knowledge of Working Drawings preferable

 

The Role:

 

  • Working alongside the Director in developing residential layout designs from inception to completion
  • Heading up the residential team in production of drawings and delivery of planning applications.
  • Working alongside the Associate in future proofing designs for delivery to the working drawings team
  • Developing new pipelines and business opportunities.

 

Additional Skills:

 

Proficient in the following software:

 

  • Autocad
  • Photoshop
  • Adobe illustrator
  • Sketch Up – 3D
  • Revit – An advantage

 

Salary on offer:-

  • Residential Layout Designer / Part II with Residential layout experience = £45,000 PA
