The company

They are long established production company operating within the live events and experiential industry, as well as a long established production partner to some of the largest events and activations in the UK and Ibiza. They have delivered 1000's of productions to countless clients, spanning a broad spectrum of projects as small as pop up bars and up to festival scale events. They have an in house workshop providing woodworking, metal fabrication, spray paint and technical construction services. Everything they do they deliver in house.


The role

This client is looking for a competent Technical Drafter to join their team on a full time basis in their beckenham based office. You will be responsible for taking briefs from your project managers and working these into 2D and 3D engineering CAD drawings. You will create construction drawings, floorplans and CNC cut plans to be used by the in house engineering team for fabrication. You will report to the senior architectural Drafter, working collaboratively to develop the construction design, considering budget and build time and produce construction drawings for client approval and workshop fabrication.


Key responsibilities

• Designing bespoke production items for the events, retail, TV and commercial sectors
• Production of accurate, consistent, and comprehensive technical drawings using CAD software
• Developing, maintaining, and evolving CAD standards, guides, and templates
• Creating final drawings from rough sketches and floorplans
• Value engineering and assessing feasibility of a project from an early stage
• Acting as a consultant to Account and Project Managers on the construction of projects
• Managing revisions and variations during development
• Maintaining accurate drawings, with clear and consistent revisions management
• Ability to survey and take accurate measurements, Including a full load-In feasibility assessment


Knowledge and Skills

• At least 3 years’ experience In drafting and design
• Relevant experience working as an Architectural/Technical Drafter in the set building, events, or commercial/retail sectors
• Ability to interpret designs with consideration to budget, drawing and build time
• Highly proficient knowledge of AutoCAD or Vector Works and able to produce high-quality 2D and 3D technical drawings that can be easily interpreted by carpenters and engineers
• Demonstrable knowledge of construction methods and materials with a good understanding of timber, metals, plastics, and glass
• Understanding of programming for CNC router, laser and plasma cutting
• An ability to Identify and Interpret client briefs is essential – you must be able to communicate with the project management and workshop teams throughout the production process to ensure that drawings fulfil requirements for all demands
• You will need to manage priorities and deadlines across multiple projects and work calmly under pressure while maintaining high quality
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
